The Korean Backdash took the Tekken pro scene by storm when it first popped up. The movement technique has been a mainstay throughout the series, leading players to wonder if it still exists in Tekken 8. So, here’s everything to know about the Korean Backdash in Tekken 8.

Tekken 8 is here and the game’s critical reception has been fantastic. The latest feature-packed offering from Bandai Namco comes with new modes to try out, new playable characters, and even a brand-new story campaign. On the gameplay front, the title introduces the Heat system, an offensive mechanic that can drastically change players’ approach.

Speaking of gameplay, the movement has received some tweaks, which might leave you wondering whether it’s still possible to execute the Korean Backdash. On that note, here’s everything to know about the Korean Backdash in Tekken 8.

Tekken 8: Can you Korean Backdash?

Yes, you can do the Korean Backdash using the same inputs in Tekken 8. The advanced technique remains as strong an evasive maneuver as ever, but you can also do without it. The reason behind this is the buff to regular backdashing in Tekken 8.

Compared to T7, spamming backdash or double backdashing is significantly faster, allowing you to create space without using advanced techniques.

How to Korean Backdash in Tekken 8

To do a Korean Backdash in Tekken 8, follow these steps:

  1. While in a match or practice, press double back followed by down.
  2. Repeat these inputs back to back as fast as you can.
  3. If done correctly, the down input will cancel the double backdash and allow you to spam another backdash quicker by eliminating the recovery animation.

Korean Backdash also known as KBD is a movement technique done through backdash cancelling. Tekken games don’t allow another backdash until the animation for the first one has finished, so Korean pro players came up with KBDs to bypass that restriction.

To master the technique, you’ll likely need a lot of practice. It’s also important to know when to use KDBs instead of just spamming them. Ideally, you should use it to create spacing and to evade moves before landing a punish.
