The original 3D Final Fantasy games were PlayStation mascots but as time has gone on, some titles have made their way over to Xbox. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the next installment of the trilogy of remakes, but is FF7 Rebirth on Xbox? Here’s all we know about the game on Xbox Series X|S.

Following the success of Remake in 2020, it’s no surprise that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of the most-anticipated games of 2024. The sequel continues the journey of Cloud and the rest of Avalance, in a story that’s likely to keep players busy for dozens of hours.

Rebirth is set to be a much bigger game than its processor, pushing the PlayStation 5 to its limit. A PC release is expected down the line, but is it arriving on Xbox Series X|S consoles?

Here’s everything you need to know about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Xbox.

Will FF7 Rebirth be on Xbox?

No, Finals Fantasy 7 Rebirth won’t be on Xbox when it launches on February 29, 2024. The game is a PlayStation exclusive to begin with, however, this doesn’t mean it won’t arrive on Xbox Series X|S in the future.

The exclusivity deal only lasts for three months, meaning that Square Enix are free to release it on other platforms from May 29, 2024. That being said, based on past Final Fantasy titles, it’s not looking too promising for Xbox owners.

Both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 skipped Xbox altogether and there’s still no sign of either game on the Series X|S. A PC version of Remake came in 2021, but that was the only other platform it was released on aside from PS4 and PS5.

When asked about the future of the Final Fantasy series on Xbox by IGN, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, gave a relatively vague answer that might still give fans a glimmer of hope.

“I fly to Tokyo and have conversations, and we’ve spent a lot of time with Square [Enix]. There’s obviously business deals and relationships that will have to get worked through on certain games,” Spencer explained.

“But I’ll say it was really great to have the CEO of Square and Yoshi there to just talk about their commitment to Xbox. So you’ll hear more. I’m not going to push them.”

Only time will tell if this means that Final Fantasy Rebirth and other entries in the series will arrive on Xbox at a later date. But for now, it seems that console players will have to stick with PlayStation if they want to see the next chapter in the story.
