Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is just around the corner, and with its launch on February 29, fans are asking when they’ll be able to test the new mechanics introduced in the Remake sequel. Here’s when the FF7 Rebirth demo will be available and all the details about how to play it.

Square Enix is hard at work in the Final Fantasy department, and players haven’t stopped receiving content since 2022 with the remake of the critically acclaimed FF7 Crisis Core from the PSP, Final Fantasy 16 in 2023, and more to come in 2024 for Final Fantasy 14 and its Dawntrail expansion.

Now, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is right around the corner and is set to be one of the biggest titles of 2024, continuing the story of Cloud and his team. But how can you download and play the demo that lets you try out the sequel to 2020’s Remake?

Here’s everything we know about the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo.

How to download Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo is now available, and players can download it from the PlayStation store.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo Junon update start date & time

The demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was available after the FF7 Rebirth State of Play on February 6, and the Junon gameplay section is coming on February 21 at 4 AM PST / 7 AM ET / 12 PM GMT.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake received a playable demo, and the last two mainline entries, Final Fantasy 15 and 16, did as well. Now, Rebirth also packs a demo where players can experience the Nibelheim flashback with Cloud and Sephiroth, and open-world gameplay outside the city of Junon.

Keep in mind that if you finish the Nibelheim portion of the game, you can earn a Kupo Charm and a Survival Kit for the full game, as well as the choice to skip the flashback section when the game releases.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo Performance mode update explained

The official update for the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo arrives on February 21, and besides adding the Junon gameplay section, the patch addresses its poor graphical fidelity while using Performance mode.

Rebirth’s demo looks great using ‘Graphics,’ but drops its quality significantly while using ‘Performance.’

Many players have called out Square Enix for poor graphic fidelity when using the Performance mode in the demo since the game runs at 60 FPS smoothly but doesn’t achieve the expected graphical quality.

The Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth developers have confirmed to IGN that these graphics fixes are also coming to the full game with the Day 1 Patch. Stay tuned when starting the game on launch day, as you might need to download a hefty update.
