Joaquín Frere
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth party.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is all about teamwork, so knowing how to change party members, its leaders, and securing the best character set-up for all situations is key to success. So, here’s all you need to know to build the best party in FF7 Rebirth.

Cloud and Avalanche grew in numbers in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and since FF7 Remake, the party now has more combat options. Players can now change between party members to alter their Synergy Abilities and Skills and engage in many different battle opportunities.

There’s a lot to consider when selecting the best party build, as not all members are available from the get-go, so here’s all you need to know to build the best setup in FF7 Rebirth, and how to do it.

How to change party members in FF7 Rebirth

To change between the available party members in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, head to the Combat Settings option in the Main Menu, select the party structure, and press Square. Here, you can edit up to three different party structures and the party leader.

Cloud, Red XIII and Aerith in FF7 Rebirth.
You can change party members in the game’s menu when the option is not story-locked.

FF7 Rebirth: How to change party leader

To change your party leader in the Combat Settings menu, simply choose the party structure you want to change leaders, highlight the desired character to change, and press Triangle.

The party leader will engage first in combat and become the player’s controllable character once the battle starts. During World Map exploration, only Cloud will be available, but you can change the character to explore the world once you finish the game.

FF7 Rebirth best party builds

Early game (Chapters 1-7)

When building the best party build for the early game in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you need to consider Attack Damage, Magical Damage, and Healing abilities.

Staggering enemies is also important, so this is the best build for the early game areas and battles of FF7 Rebirth:

  • Cloud
  • Aerith
  • Tifa

Building Cloud with a few HP Up materia can transform him into a nice tank and melee damage dealer hybrid using the Buster Sword. Aerith can use the Timeless Rod and Healing Materia to focus on Cure spells and the Talisman of Focus accessory to upgrade her spirit stat.

While Cloud tanks and Aerith heals, Tifa should focus on Speed-enhancing accessories like the Aureate Pinion to build up the Stagger bar on all enemies. You should equip Tifa with the Auto-Unique Materia, as the AI will automatically use her Unbridled Strength Ability once the battle starts and greatly enhance the number of hits per second, staggering enemies faster.

Late game (Chapters 7-13)

For the later part of the game, and once Yuffie becomes available in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth after the events of Costa del Sol, she will join the party and make up the best party build in the game.

Here’s the best party build for FF7 Rebirth’s late game:

  • Cloud
  • Yuffie
  • Aerith

For the late game, you will want to focus on Yuffie as Leader, since she can change her attack element using Ninjutsu and help Stagger any enemy with an elemental weakness out there. Also, she has the Blindside Ability that can be used to quickly regain balance and attack enemies if knocked down.

Those are the best party builds for the early and late areas in FF7 Rebirth, as well as how to change party members and its leader! For more on Square Enix’s latest, check out the rest of our content:
