If you’re looking for the best performance while playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you will need to adjust a few settings accordingly. So, here are the best settings for Square Enix’s new open-world RPG, including updates on the new Performance graphic setting, the best combat mode, and more.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is here, and players can not only explore its huge world, but all of its multiple minigames as well. Now, if you want to play the game in the best way possible, you will need to adjust some in-game settings.

From switching between the Tracker and the minimap, or the game’s different graphic & gameplay modes, here’s all you need to know about which settings are the best for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Should you choose Graphics or Performance Mode?

The best way to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is by using the Graphics mode. Even with its February 21, 2024 demo update that affected the full game as well, the Performance mode still fails to deliver a good-looking experience while maintaining 60 FPS.

The game renders at 30 to 45 FPS in native 4K using Graphics mode, while Performance mode targets 1440p resolution and 60 FPS. Players have called for changes on this last mode once again, and Square Enix confirmed a new patch for Performance mode is coming soon.

The FF7 Remake Graphics optimization mode is the best way to play the game.

In an exclusive interview with the outlet One More Game, the game’s director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed the patch. “We’ve received a lot of feedback on whether the graphics in the performance mode will be improved or not,” said Hamaguchi. “We hear you, and we are currently working on an update patch to improve that aspect. I don’t think the release date would be far away from now.”

How to switch between Minimap & Tracker in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Like in FF7 Remake, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also features the possibility to switch between a Tracker and a Minimap in the Gameplay part of the Options menu. This is a completely personal choice for every player, but Rebirth benefits a ton while using the Minimap.

Large open-world areas like The Grasslands are featured in FF7 Rebirth. And, as the Tracker might seem like a good option, our testing has proven that the Minimap is the best way to locate yourself in the world and know where each side’s content is located.

Best audio settings for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has some audio issues with certain sound configurations, so we recommend tweaking its sound settings a bit before starting to play.

Here are the best audio settings for FF7 Rebirth:

  • Master: 10
  • Music: 8
  • SFX: 9
  • Voice: 9
  • Song: 7

It is up to every player to change these settings, as different configurations might suit different numbers. What we just wrote here is what worked best using a Pulse 3D for PS5 headset, and a few variations on TV Speakers.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Classic vs Active combat modes

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has two different combat modes to choose between: Active and Classic modes.

When playing in Active mode, players will input all the commands when fighting enemies and engage in a completely action-oriented combat. Classic mode, on the contrary, sees characters automatically attacking while the player only inputs Abilities, Spells, Items, or any other actions while spending ATB gauge.

Classic mode makes the party automatically attack, while you can focus on spending ATB on Abilities.

You can freely choose between the two of them, so if you are tackling Classic mode, you should expect boss fights to be a bit difficult. Practice a little bit on Active mode, and switch to Classic whenever you don’t feel like playing an Action game.

Players can always choose what’s best for their own enjoyment, but hopefully, these tips will help you set up Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in the best way possible.
