Diablo 4 players want more than just new rewards to spice up endgame

Diablo 4 players have constantly said that the endgame isn’t very diverse. They’ve also gone on to say that it’s more reward-oriented, which is probably the reason they feel it lacks variety.

The Diablo 4 endgame consists of five major bosses, barring Uber Lilith. If you are to consider the Seasonal Realm, then you have one additional boss in the form of Uber Malphas who’s the main antagonist in the Season of the Construct.

These boss fights are fairly straightforward and players have devised builds that allow them to one-shot these bosses. All these bosses drop Unique equipment, with Uber Duriel being the only one that drops Uber Uniques.

Player ‘Such_Performance229’ took to Reddit to express their issue with the current format of the endgame in Diablo 4. They mentioned that all the endgame activities in the game are “one-dimensionally focused on rewards” rather than having a robust system around them.

Players in the Diablo 4 community agreed with what the OP had to say about the lack of endgame systems. One Redditor commented, “The main issue that I have is the progression curve falls off a cliff even before you hit max level.”

‘Thunar2122’ said, “Yeah I think the focus solely on rewards is a big problem. It feels like they’re just slapping on bandaids in the hopes that people keep playing.”

Others said that Diablo 4 could do well with Raid mechanics where players could group up and tackle a huge dungeon with multiple mechanics.

Another player, however, somewhat disagreed with what the OP had to say. They commented, “I agree that Diablo 4 needs more endgame systems to engage with, but I would disagree that they’ve gone too far on the rewards. In fact, I’d say that’s their biggest issue; they’ve done too little with rewards.”

Redditor ‘dralcom3’ had a similar opinion. They said, “Duriel has only Shako. Vaults have those two Uniques. AoZ had the boring thing you level up. There’s just no variety, no combinations, nothing to explore, experiment with.”

The Gauntlet, which comes to the game alongside the Diablo 4 1.3.3 update, might address the endgame issue that players are facing. With the PTR also coming soon, it’s possible that the developers have more plans to address this issue in the near future.
