The PTR in Diablo 4 is a place where players can try out upcoming features before they’re released in the game. Here’s what you need to know about it.

The PTR has been a highly requested feature in Diablo 4. Most games in the franchise have a PTR and Blizzard’s brand-new ARPG is finally set to receive one of its own.

Once the PTR goes live, players will be able to try out the new features for themselves and see how they work in the game. Players feel that the inclusion of this feature will improve the condition of the game considerably.

Diablo 4, ever since its launch, has faced a lot of criticism from players with respect to many aspects in the game. Having a PTR could potentially reduce the scope for criticism, given that players get to try it before it makes it to the main game.

Having said that, here’s everything you need to know about the Diablo 4 PTR.

What is the Public Test Realm in Diablo 4

Just like the Seasonal Realm and the Eternal Realm, the Public Test Realm is a different realm altogether. In this realm, you will be able to use your pre-existing characters to try out some features that are set to make it to the game.

It’s worth noting that features that are being tested in the PTR may or may not make it to the game in the future depending upon how the community reacts to it.

The benefits of a PTR are immense because it lets the community test out the upcoming changes to the game. It also allows the developers to tweak the modifications based on the feedback that they receive from the community.

When does the Diablo 4 PTR start?

The Diablo 4 PTR is scheduled to go live sometime towards the end of Season 3, as revealed during the February 29 Campfire Chat.

Although they’ve not specified a date yet, the developers revealed that they will be sharing more information about it in upcoming Campfire Chats.

How to play the Diablo 4 PTR

As of now, it’s currently unclear how you’ll be able to play the Diablo 4 PTR ahead of Season 4. However, if we were to draw assumptions from previous games, then you would be able to select the realm you want to go into from the main loading screen itself.

You will be able to try out upcoming class changes in the Public Test Realm.

It’s also worth noting that you do not need to do anything extra to join the Public Test Realm. As the name suggests, it will be available to everyone who’s purchased the base game.

What to expect from the Diablo 4 Public Test Realm?

The basic idea of the Public Test Realm in Diablo 4 is to allow you to try out features that are scheduled to arrive in the game.

While you will not be able to try out campaigns or seasonal content, you will be able to test out new itemization features and mechanics that the developers intend to release.

It’s also important to note that you will most likely be able to take your characters from the Eternal Realm into the PTR, but whatever changes you make to them within the PTR won’t carry over to the main game.

That’s all we have for you about the Diablo 4 PTR for now. We’ll update this piece once the developers release more information about it.
