What are the new Lunar Shrines in Diablo 4?

Due to the Lunar Awakening event in Diablo 4, several Shrines across Sanctuary have turned into Lunar Shrines, giving out new buffs and bonuses to everyone. Additionally, whenever you kill with these new buffs active, you get Ancestor’s Favor, the main currency of the event.

Lunar Shrines provide much better buffs compared to the normal vanilla Shrines as each of them gives out 50% more XP and makes your movement 30% faster in Diablo 4. Here are all the changes each Shrine type will receive during the event:

  • Artillery Shrine – Casts have a chance to summon a holy bomb.
  • Blast Wave Shrine – Each explosion summons a cluster bombardment.
  • Channeling Shrine – Increased attack speed and a chance to reset cooldowns.
  • Conduit Shrine – Summon frequent, powerful, shocking strikes.
  • Greed Shrine – Chance to summon a Treasure Goblin. While the Shrine is active, 25 kills summons a Treasure Goblin, and 50 kills summons a second.
  • Lethal Shrine – Chance to instantly execute a struck monster, causing Fear in surrounding monsters. Note: this includes Elites, but excludes Bosses and other Players.
  • Protection Shrine – You reflect all incoming damage. Damage reflected scales with Level and World Tier.

How to cleanse Shrines

To cleanse a Shrine and get rewards in Diablo 4, you simply need to eliminate all the monsters that spawn around it. The duration of a Lunar Shrine ranges between 10-20 seconds like the standard one and it’s best to accumulate the opponents first and then activate the Shrine buff.

World events near Lunar Shrines will task you with eliminating Miserly Spirits for 60 seconds and although this won’t affect your Lunar Awakening progress, killing three Elite enemies during these events grants bonus chest rewards.

  • Nightmare Dungeons (100% spawn rate and 10% additional Glyph EXP if you have the Ancestor’s Favor Affix)
  • Local World events (not guaranteed)

Getting the Ancestor’s Favor can greatly boost your progress during the Lunar Awakening event in Diablo 4 Season 3 and get all the desired rewards before it ends on February 20, 2024. Another thing to note is that Lunar Shrines won’t appear after Lunar Awakening ends and only the Affix’s Glyph XP bonus will remain functional.
