CS2 shares many similarities with CSGO and there are plenty of new features as well to keep you engaged. This includes the console that lets you enter multiple commands, so here’s how to open the console in CS2.

At its core, CS2 is a simple FPS game that follows the footsteps of CSGO. Teams of terrorists and counter-terrorists face each other on a wide range of maps and you can increase your odds of winning through precise aim, grenades, smokes, and other tactics.

You can customize your audio, video, and crosshair settings to personalize the gameplay experience and ensure you have an edge over the opponents. On top of this, the console lets you adjust sensitivity, practice, view FPS, summon bots, and a lot more through commands.

On that note, here’s how to open the console in CS2.

How to enable the console in CS2

Follow these steps to enable the console in CS2:

  1. Launch CS2 and get to the main screen.
  2. Open the in-game settings by clicking on the cog icon at the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Head to the Game section.
  4. Look for the setting called Enable Developer Console (~).
  5. Change the No option to Yes.

Doing so will allow you to open the CS2 console by simply clicking the ~ or ` key on the keyboard (usually located in the top left above Tab). Some of the most basic yet important features you can access through this include displaying FPS, enabling cheats in custom games, controlling bots, and disabling joystick input.

How to open CS2 console through Steam Launch Options

Here’s how you can have your console open automatically after CS2’s launch through Steam:

  1. Open your Steam Library.
  2. Right-click on Counter-Strike 2 and open its Properties.
  3. Select General > Launch Options > type-console.

If you’ve added a command to CS2 through Steam, it will automatically open the console when you launch the game and override the in-game setting mentioned above. Also, most of the CSGO commands should work the same way in the CS2 console, but a handful of popular ones such as net_graph, cl_righthand, and cl_bob have been removed.

Well, this was everything to know about enabling the CS2 console. For more content on the game, check out:
