While most Call of Duty fans will have their sights firmly set on 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, Activision have revealed they have every CoD game planned up until 2027.

It’s an exciting time to be a Call of Duty fan, with Modern Warfare 3 due to arrive on November 10. The follow-up to 2022’s MW2 is bringing back 16 classic maps from 2009, along with a brand-new Warzone map.

Leaks and rumors have also emerged about CoD 2024, which is expected to be developed by Treyarch and gives players plenty to look forward to in the coming months.

However, while the community is occupied with what’s coming next, Activision have confirmed that they have every Call of Duty release until 2027 mapped out.

In an interview with Venture Beat, Activision President, Rob Kostich, said: “We’re constantly in our planning phase, our long-term planning phase. Right now, we have games planned out all the way through ’27 for the things that we’re working on.”

Although Kostich didn’t give any clues away about what the upcoming games could look like, he did hint that a futuristic setting like Infinite Warfare is unlikely.

“I think we’ve done a lot of games in the future. We probably went as far there as we possibly could,” he explained. “We made some of the games in the past. You start to see the sweet spot over time and what really resonates with the community. You see things like the Modern Warfare and Black Ops franchises are really popular.”

However, he went on to mention that the team is open to exploring different time periods away from the Black Ops and Modern Warfare series to give the community more variety.

“We’ve certainly had some other games that have done really well, like the original World War II game from Sledgehammer in 2017 did really, really well as well,” he continued. “It’s a balance, I think most importantly, that we feel like we actually need to provide good differentiated experiences, good things for people to get in, and feel like they’re experiencing new kinds of fun.”

Although we probably won’t see any of these planned Call of Duty games for many years, fans will be relieved to hear that Activision have a mix of different experiences in the works.
