Warzone Season 2 has arrived bringing new content as well as keeping well-received features within the battle royale. So here’s everything you need to know about Strongholds in Warzone, including how the public event works.

Warzone Season 2 is fully underway introducing a ton of content for players to dive into, including the return of the beloved Fortune’s Keep map, new weaponry, and several buffs and nefs to the existing gun roster.

Strongholds were a major feature in Warzone’s previous iteration that allowed players to loot up and get their loadouts quickly. In Warzone Season 1, the devs have completely altered the Strongholds feature that has now become a public event, so here’s what you need to know about it.

Warzone Strongholds public event explained

Strongholds in Warzone have gone from a guaranteed spawn on the Al Mazrah map to a new public event on Urzikstan, and this remains in Season 2.

There’s no telling which matches will contain Strongholds, but when the event is accessible, four Strongholds will appear across Uzikstan. The new system will reduce the time that players have to secure a Stronghold from 90 seconds to 30 seconds.

The devs explained why they tweaked Strongholds: “In order to make each match unique, Strongholds have been moved to the public event system where there is a percentage chance of them becoming accessible during infill. We recognize that strongholds being present in every match leads to a clear golden path and not a unique experience from match to match.”

Urzikstan replaced Al Mazrah as the main Warzone BR map.

The most important change within the actual Stronghold is the splitting of the capture crate. Warzone players will have to head to the UAV Station as the capture point. Meanwhile, they will also be able to visit the Loadout Locker, which replaces the Loadout crate.

Keep in mind that only the squad that successfully captures the Stronghold will have access to the Loadout Locker. While the Stronghold has undergone some changes as a public event, it maintains its usefulness as a feature to secure a loadout, valuable loot, and a UAV sweep.

While the devs have made this initial tweak to Strongholds in Warzone’s first season, they claimed that more changes could be on the way: “We are working towards additional features to make Strongholds fairer to contest and control, and will have more to announce in future.”
