Buffed Warzone 2 SMG outguns close-range meta but nobody uses it

Warzone 2 expert Metaphor has revealed the SMG that players are sleeping on, despite receiving multiple buffs in the last few major updates.

Warzone 2‘s meta is constantly changing and evolving, as each new update brings new weapons to try as well as a host of buffs and nerfs, completely changing which guns are the most popular among players.

The close-range meta is arguably the most competitive in the entire game, with plenty of options that pair perfectly with a Sniper Rifle. While the Vaznev-9K remains the go-to pick, the Lachmann Sub and VEL 46 are also deadly over short distances.

However, Warzone 2 guru Metaphor has revealed the powerful SMG that no one is using right now, despite receiving plenty of buffs in updates.

In his May 7 video, the YouTuber claimed that the BAS-P is one of his “favorite guns in the game,” and can compete with some of the meta options in its category. Despite this, the BAS-P has a pick rate of just 0.4% on WZ Ranked, making it one of the least-used SMGs in Warzone 2.

Metaphor was clearly surprised that it hasn’t challenged the top of the meta yet, as he pointed out that the BAS-P has received plenty of attention in the last two weapon-balancing updates.

Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded improved the SMG’s damage range, before Season 3 buffed the same stat as well as its ADS movement speed.”It does keep getting buffed. Like, they really want to push this gun into the meta,” he said.

Metaphor believed that although the BAS-P hasn’t seen much of an increase in popularity, the buffs have paid off as the Season 1 SMG can “out-damage” the MP7 and “beat the P90” at close-range.

Metaphor began with the 10.5″ Bruen Typhon barrel to increase the BAS-P’s damage range, making it a beast in mid-range fights as well as close-range. This paired nicely with the Lockgrip Precision, which improves its stability during sustained fire.

Then, he focused on mobility by buffing the ADS speed with the Accu-shot 5MW Laser, Bruen Flash Grip, and Bruen Flash V4 Stock, ensuring that players can always land those crucial first shots.

While the BAS-P is still an outsider compared to other Warzone 2 SMGs, Metaphor explained that it has great “potential” thanks to its buffs in recent updates. With Season 3 Reloaded due on May 10, we’ll have to wait and see if it’s handed yet another boost.
