Baldur’s Gate 3 player thinks you’re missing out on most underrated Origin character

Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to choose an Origin character to play instead of the Dark Urge or a custom character, and one is being overlooked as a powerful option, according to players.

Origin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 each have unique stories, but Wyll has been pointed out as one of the least popular characters to have in your party. His story is quite central to the larger plot of Baldur’s Gate 3, so you can only go so long before needing to pay some attention to him

While players don’t necessarily have an issue with Wyll as a character, players find it difficult to slot him into their parties for maximum effect. This can get annoying to some when he has to be around for his story quests, of which there are quite a few.

However, one player has said that he is the best Origin character to play overall, and his potential as a player-character is overlooked.

In a post on Reddit, ‘Binx_Thackery’ explained, “Wyll has been received the poorest among all the companions; not because he is bad but it’s just that the other companions seem more interesting. However, I think he is the best pre-generated Origin to play for a lot of little reasons.”

The OP’s reasons were mainly that playing as Wyll takes away the guilt of not really wanting to do his quests, and also allows players to do their playthrough as one of the most popular classes – Warlock.

The OP then pointed out that by playing as Wyll in Baldur’s Gate 3, players can remove the irritating parts of his personality and choose differently in certain situations. “I think Wyll can get a little annoying sometimes and I like being able to change the way he handles things to something that I would rather see him do,” they said.

Fans in the comments agreed with the OP, saying that Wyll has “protagonist energy” and that his interactions with Karlach can make for a great romance story.

“When Karlach has to return to Avernus, what does Wyll do? ‘F**k it, I’m going with you so you’re not alone, let’s go kill some devils.’ Bro is a warlock with the heart of a Paladin,” one player said.
