Apex Legends Season 12 will introduce brand new “Prestige Skins” to the game, a skin type with an evolving mechanic.

With Apex Legends Season 12 almost upon us, players have been breaking down everything coming in the new update. Both the gameplay and launch trailers for Season 12 have given us great insight into the new Legend Mad Maggie, changes coming to Olympus, and also the Control LTM.

Now, players have noticed the appearance of an evolving skin in the gameplay trailer, which will be arriving in Season 12.

In the recent gameplay trailer for Apex Legends Season 12, fans were given a look at a new Bloodhound skin right at the end of the video. This skin is different and the first of its kind, as it actually evolves and changes its design through gameplay.

Further, the skin also comes with its own unique finisher, or “finishers,” which will most likely be unlocked by the player after reaching its final evolution, or tier.

It’s unclear what exactly players will have to do to get the skin to evolve, but it could be similar to the evolving weapon skins that have been in the game for some time now as the final battle pass item.

The skin will most likely change outside of a match rather than evolving on the spot, as in the trailer Bloodhound is shown in different maps and areas when the skin evolves.

This could also mean that the skin has some hefty challenges to it in order to get it to evolve, as it might not be as simple as getting kills in a match.

For those that missed it in the trailer, Apex Legends content creator Shrugtal posted all three of the skin’s evolutions over on Twitter:

There has been speculation that this skin could even be a part of the Apex Legends Third Anniversary Collection Event, but nothing has been confirmed. Perhaps the skin is associated with the Season 12 Battle Pass, we’ll have to wait for more information to confirm.

We will update this article when we know more about Prestige skins and how players can get them.
