Set in the Ubisoft universe, XDefiant is said to go toe-to-toe with Call of Duty, but does it have a battle royale mode like the latter? Here’s everything you should know know.

Featuring unique Factions, a great roster of maps, and unique game modes, XDefiant is Ubisoft’s take on an arena FPS that is dubbed the ‘CoD killer’ by many in the community.

While the free-to-play title is set to introduce SBMM in the future with Ranked Play, which its Call of Duty counterpart already has, you might be wondering if the same is true for a battle royale mode.

So here’s everything you need to know about an XDefiant battle royale.

Is battle royale coming to XDefiant?

No, XDefiant does not feature a battle royale, and it doesn’t appear that there are any plans to add the mode in the future.

Back in February 2023, Ubisoft Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that XDefiant is an arena shooter and won’t have BR mode.

He said, “The team and I at #Ubisoft are making a multiplayer FPS called #XDefiant. We are solely focused on making a great and fun arena shooter. No BR. And we’re not moving on to a new game after this. We are going to keep making this game better and better! That is all.”

Following the breakout success of games like PUBG and Fortnite, FPS franchises have tried to create their own take on the battle royale genre. However, it seems that the XDefiant devs are happy to stick to an arena shooter for the foreseeable future.
