Will XDefiant be on Steam? Dev responds

XDefiant is one of the most anticipated shooters of 2024, blending 6v6 arena gameplay with Ubisoft’s catalog of factions and characters. Will XDefiant be coming to Steam at launch? Here’s what a dev had to say.

Ubisoft’s XDefiant was supposed to launch in late 2023 but was delayed until 2024, much to the disappointment of players who absolutely loved the betas. Although Modern Warfare 3 did a lot to recapture Call of Duty’s long-time player base, XDefiant is set to be a love letter to classic CoD but with its own twists on the genre.

The game will be free-to-play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2024, but will you be able to launch XDefiant on Steam? Here’s everything we know about XDefiant’s Steam arrival so far.

Is XDefiant coming to Steam?

At launch, XDefiant will be Ubisoft Connect exclusive, but the developers haven’t ruled out a Steam launch further down the line.

XDefiant’s Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, responded to a fan asking whether the game is planned to arrive on Steam, saying, “For launch it will only be on UbiConnect but it is something we are talking about as a possibility for later.”

Many Ubisoft titles also arrive on Steam and the Epic Games Store, so the game coming to different PC launchers is well within the realms of possibility. But for launch, at least, you’ll need to have the Ubisoft Connect launcher installed to play XDefiant.

We don’t know when exactly the game will fully release but in the meantime, you can check out everything else we know about XDefiant:
