Valorant players slam Radianite as “worst monetization model”

In Valorant, there are two currencies that players will come across, namely Valorant Points (VP) and Radianite Points. While there are ways to earn the latter for free, players feel as though there’s very little they can do with them.

Radianite Points in Valorant are the only way in which you can upgrade your cosmetics in the game. Almost every skin that you purchase, has different variants to it. Despite purchasing the skin for the gun that you want, you will have to spend additional Radianite Points to unlock the other variants.

This is why players feel that these Radianite Points are a “scam” in Valorant. What’s more, while these points can technically be earned for free, you can only do so if you’ve upgraded to a premium Battle Pass.

A player named ‘Nemxlll’ took to Reddit to express their frustrations with Radianite Points in Valorant. They called it a “cash-grab currency” and considered it to be a “predatory” practice by Riot Games.

According to the OP, if they’re paying around $130 for a skin bundle, they should be able to access everything. They shouldn’t have to spend extra money to unlock the additional cosmetic options that come with the different skins.

Others chimed into the discussion with similar opinions. A player mentioned that every time this discussion popped up, players said the same things. However, Riot haven’t changed their pricing at all, because it’s a model that works.

As others pointed out, almost every player in a lobby has a custom skin for the weapons that they’re using. It amazed them as to how the developers managed to sell their cosmetics, despite such pricing. There were others who compared Riot’s Radianite Points pricing in Valorant to Overwatch 2‘s monetization policies.

However, players on the Reddit thread seemed to agree that Overwatch 2 players had it worse in terms of pricing. They also believed that it was one of the primary reasons why the game saw a low player count on a regular basis.

Despite these monetization methods, Valorant has a very active player base, which will probably keep growing as the days go by.
