Starfield players claim missing ship feature is a “huge oversight”

In Starfield, you can install Infirmaries in your ships but they seem to be missing a vital function. Players are calling them a “lost opportunity” as there’s no way to heal and cure ailments with them.

Starfield offers an extensive ship customization system where you choose how your ship looks, performs, and more. The Habs you install on your ship decide its purpose. These include cargo holds, infirmaries, armories, science labs, and more. However, one particular Hab in Starfield, the Infirmary, seems to be missing a vital function — the ability to heal you and cure your ailments.

Starfield players are sharing their disappointment about this missed feature on Reddit, where users like ‘Ordinance85’ believe it to be a “huge oversight.” Other players added to the list of “useless” components. This includes the cargo hold, which doesn’t increase storage, and the captain’s quarters, which serves as a hangout for crewmates.

The post received over 21,000 upvotes, which cements the fact that many Starfield players agree with this sentiment. A popular comment mentioned how Cora “loudly and constantly” asks for books, but you can’t give them to her. Another user added that the books already exist in-game, which makes it even weirder.

One Starfield player went on to theorize “that there were uses for the infirmary and galley, as well as all of the meds and food (why else is it all craftable), which were removed at some point.” Another player replied to confirm that the developers did admit to this: “Originally there were a lot more survival pieces to the game but they dumbed them down a ton before release.”

Yet another post by ‘dtb301’ also reflects the disappointment regarding the Infirmaries in Starfield. They mentioned that they wouldn’t mind if you needed both the doctor and the Infirmary to heal yourself. However, they found out the hard way that having the doctor aboard your ship “provides zero benefit.”

They also suggested that Bethesda could have added “basic missions to resupply the ship with medical supplies every so often, for extra RP/immersion.”
