Starfield players claim Baldur’s Gate 3 “ruined quests” for them

Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield are light years apart from each other, but as both games are essentially RPGs, they have their similarities. The features in common are not just reduced to character building or leveling up, but also to quests and the open-world setting.
And that’s it, those are pretty much all the things that they have in common. Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3 differ in scope, theme, pacing, story, mechanics, and overall quality.
For Reddit user bionickel, this has been made most obvious in the quest design department. And so, they exposed their arguments on the following post.
Bionickel says that Baldur’s Gate 3 has raised the bar quite high for them, as they made it pretty clear on Reddit: “Just want to appreciate how there are no fetch or meaningless quests in this game. Any other studios would have padded in filler quests just to artificially inflate play time.”
According to bionickel, questing in Baldur’s Gate 3 is so good that every other game will now start looking lackluster in comparison. Starfield, for example, has a traditional quest system that includes quests like ‘Fetch X object,’ ‘Kill X target,’ and so on.
So it is no wonder that players feel shocked when encountering such quality in contrast to the traditional fetching quests we are used to finding in every RPG: “We’ve been conditioned to accepting it as the norm,” they said, and added: “Each quest is unique and added something to the overall experience.”
Another Reddit user claimed: “With that level of effort put into it, I’d argue it’s not a mere fetch quest like other games.”
Bionickel finished by claiming: “I’m gonna scream inside the next time I see a fetch quest in another game. This game has ruined quests for me, for the better.”
