Credits in Starfield can be acquired through various means in the game, regardless of morality. Although unethical, selling Contraband is quite profitable in the game. So here’s how to get back your confiscated Contraband from security if you ever get caught.

Starfield provides you with various ways to make money as it is highly important to survive in the Settled Systems. Although there are numerous quests you can do to earn a few thousand credits, illegally transporting Contraband can provide you with a good amount of credits to spend.

Whether you want to build your own ship or buy cool gear for yourself, you will always need credits in the game. Hauling Contraband like the Crimson Fleet is not so bad until you get caught. But there is always a way out, like everything in this game.

Here’s how to get back your confiscated Contraband in Starfield.

How to take back your confiscated Contraband in Starfield

Your confiscated goods will be transported in the Stolen Items Locker.

To get your Contraband back in Starfield, you will have to pick the lock of a chest named Stolen Items Locker in the security office. There you will find all the items that were confiscated from your ship during the regular checks.

Contraband are illegal goods that are of high value, and can be sold at an attractive price to the Trade Authority or the Crimson Fleet. But as these are illegal goods, you do not want the military or the security to catch you with these on your ship.

If you are caught on scan for contraband before entering a planet, you can either pay off your bounty or choose to go to jail in Starfield. Either way, you will be transported to the planet’s security office. From there, sneak your way to the Stolen Items Locker, which should be close by.

For example, if you are caught on Jemison, you will find your Contraband in the Stolen Items Locker in the UC Security Office. Make sure you have upgraded your Security skill for the next step as you will have to pick the lock of this chest. These are Expert-level chests that need a minimum of Level 2 in the Security skill in Starfield.

Once you have successfully cracked the code with your Digipicks, you can take your Contraband and make your way to the nearest Trade Authority vendors or the Crimson Fleet to sell them.
