A funny but harmless bug made a Starfield player’s ship seemingly drift when attempting a warp drive. Here’s what Starfield’s fan community is talking about.

Starfield‘s fan community frequently finds humor in the game’s bugs, and for good reason. Players have found dancing aliens, strange teleportation portals, and even had their ships turned into sentient AIs. The latest one, however, seems to be an unintentional nod to racing games.

Redditor ‘Available-Bottle9320’ shared a video on the Starfield subreddit which shows their ship seemingly drifting in space. They were surprised to see their ship acting this way and jokingly asked other players if this was normal.

Starfield players poke fun at “Tokyo Drift” ships

The clip shows that when OP attempted a warp jump in Starfield, the game failed to show the proper ship animation. Instead, the player’s ship remained sideways and seemed to be rotating slightly while moving forward, making it look like it was drifting.

Naturally, Redditors couldn’t help but leave amusing comments referencing both Initial D and The Fast and Furious. They described the scene as “Interstellar Tokyo drift,” “Taiyo Drift,” “MULTI-GRAV DRIFTING,” and even “Interdimensional drift”.

One user rephrased the lyrics to ‘Tokyo Drift (Fast & Furious)’ by Teriyaki Boyz, but with a Starfield twist: “I wonder if you know/How they live in System Sol.” Other users began posting the lyrics of “Deja Vu,” the popular Eurobeat song by Dave Rodgers that is featured in Initial D anime and frequently used in memes featuring vehicles out of control.

“This isn’t a bug, it’s a feature,” wrote Reddit user ‘nekekamii’, referencing the humorous catchphrase often used for Bethesda’s games. Meanwhile, another Starfield fan commented that this has also happened to them, but with a more permanent effect: “Mine did this once where it was permanently tilted. Even when docking with other ships, it would dock crooked.”

Starfield’s players managed to discover a lot more than bugs, as one player found a strange NPC who’s “more natural and lifelike” than the main cast. Meanwhile, another player found a “hilarious” Anakin Skywalker Star Wars Easter egg.
