A new Pokemon game has been announced during Pokemon Presents 2024, so here’s what you need to know about Pokemon Legends ZA.

Slashing all rumors over a Gen 5 remake, Game Freak set the course for a new Pokemon Legends game, set to be a follow-up to 2022’s Legends Arceus, which was set in the past of the Sinnoh Region. Hisui was the past, and now players want to go back to Kalos with Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Here’s all you need to know about Pokemon Legends Z-A, including its release window, platforms, and more.

Pokemon Legends ZA release window

Pokemon Legends Z-A will be released in 2025, as it was confirmed by The Pokemon Company during the Pokemon Presents 2024 live presentation.

The developers confirmed this by stating that the game will be released “simultaneously worldwide during 2025.”

Pokemon Legends ZA expected platforms

Pokemon Legends Z-A will be available for Nintendo Switch, as it was the only logo shown during the Pokemon Presents 2024.

With a lot of rumors flying around about the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, and a 2025 release date for Legends Z-A, it wouldn’t be crazy to think that the game could come to Nintendo’s next system as well.

Pokemon Legends ZA: Are Mega Evolutions back?

Yes, Mega Evolutions will be back for Pokemon Legends Z-A. This was confirmed by The Pokemon Company during the Pokemon Presents 2024 live event, as the Mega Evolution symbol was shown briefly at the end of the trailer.

A report from CoroCoro magazine on April revealed Mega Evolutions from Pokemon X&Y and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire will be back to further explore the lore behind this special evolution. Fans expect many more species to get new Mega Evolutions, but there’s no official confirmation on that just yet.

Pokemon Legends ZA location: Lumiose City explained

Pokemon Legends ZA will be set entirely in Lumiose City, the main hub for the Kalos region back in Pokemon XY. This was confirmed by Nintendo on an X post, as the Urban Development team for the city will begin motion.

Players are still trying to figure out if the story will be set in the past, like Legends Arceus, or the future, with some even theorizing about possible time travel mechanics. A recent report by CoroCoro magazine revealed players will travel to a new Lumiose City, different from the one seen in X&Y. What’s more, wild Pokemon will roam the city, bringing new elements to the franchise.

This, however, doesn’t clarify Pokemon Legends ZA’s timeline, so we’ll make sure to update this section once we have more official information. Some fans are even thinking Pokemon might introduce the concept of multiverse, not only adding new lore about Mega Evolutions but even explaining Paradox Pokemon and other unanswered mysteries.
