Pokemon Go players completely ignore “trash” scanning Research tasks

Field Research tasks asking Pokemon Go players to scan PokeStop locations have become so unpopular that many just want to get rid of them for good.

Catching Pokemon is only half the job done for Pokemon Go players as they also have to complete various Field Research tasks to collect important in-game assets such as Rare Candy, Stardust, and evolution items.

While players usually look forward to these tasks, there is a certain category of quests that most fans want nothing to do with, PokeStop AR scanning.

These tasks require trainers to scan the PokeStop location in real time by using the AR camera feature of Pokemon Go, giving them a reward in the process. Though a couple of these rewards are sought-after, players have voiced their frustrations with the tasks in question.

After Reddit user ‘bang_bros_r_us’ shared a post titled: “Anyone else just immediately throw scans away?” referencing a scanning Field Research task, fellow players chipped in, agreeing with the OP.

Pokemon Go trainers commented: “I always throw them away. One day I thought I’d try it out and even after scanning the stop it didn’t even upload so I just wasted my own time. Never again” and “I automatically delete them cause it’s annoying.”

Many highlighted how it is often weird to even get the task done. “In my area, it keeps asking me to scan someone’s HOUSE. That is so creepy I’m not doing that Lolol,” a user wrote before another added: “I’m not about to embarrass myself in public.”

When some asked how they could get rid of these tasks, others pointed out that keeping one without completion will ensure that you can take up three regular Field Research tasks, as shown in the OP’s post.

A player mentioned that the community can grab “both [regular and scanning] quests from 1 PokeStop as long as you don’t finish the [scanning] task before picking up the second one.”

“I just keep 1 so I don’t have to keep deleting it,” a fan stated, to which another replied: “Yep, it sits at the top and will never move,” leaving players free to take up other tasks.

That said, a large section of players said that they would do scanning tasks as long as they reward “Rare Candy or Poffins.” Otherwise, the tasks would go into the “trash” as the other rewards like Great Poke Ball aren’t worthwhile.
