“Genius” Pokemon Go player beats Giovanni with just one weak Legendary

Going up against Team Rocket boss Giovanni is one of the toughest challenges in Pokemon Go as the honcho packs a serious punch with his team of Shadow Pokemon.
With the fan-favorite Shadow Kyogre as the reward for beating the man, players are sparing no effort to get the job done, but many are unable to build a solid team to take him down.
Now, a trainer with the username ‘Pizzafactory102’ shared a post on the Pokemon Go subreddit where they wrote, “I beat Giovanni with one Virizion, AMA,” prompting fellow players to ask how the OP did it with what is considered the weakest of the Legendary Swords of Justice.
After the OP said that they used three Fast Moves for one Sacred Sword and timed it right so that Giovanni’s Pokemon don’t attack straightaway, fans wanted a detailed explanation.
This led to a player putting it all out in detail, while also highlighting how Team Rocket battle mechanics work in Pokemon Go. The trainer in question elaborated:
“Rocket grunts don’t attack immediately after you throw a charged move, which gives you enough time to charge up another charged move while only getting hit once, so basically you can just spam Sacred Sword while barely taking damage.”
A user pointed out the exact strategy used by the OP to make it clearer. “There is a Charged attack called Sacred Sword. It charges up very fast, so you can use it after every 3rd Fast Attack,” they said.
“[Team Rocket] Pokemon are frozen for several seconds after each Charged attack you use. They are also frozen for a few seconds when you switch Pokemon,” leading to many calling it “next-level genius.”
As many wanted to know the details of Virizion’s moveset and stats, it was revealed that the Legendary wasn’t even a 100 IV, and used Double Kick and Sacred Sword. “Further information: I kind of got lucky, because the Kyogre had Waterfall, which I could time and negate,” the OP added.
