Overwatch 2 is full of unique Heroes, all with different playstyles and abilities. The sequel launched with an extensive roster of characters, but Blizzard have also been dropping new faces every couple of seasons to keep things fresh.

The Tank category, in particular, has been fleshed out in Overwatch 2, with Junker Queen and Ramattra arriving already. Now, the devs have revealed another new Tank after weeks of speculation from the community.

Here’s everything you need to know about Mauga in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Mauga release date

Blizzard have confirmed that Mauga will officially arrive in Overwatch 2 on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, as part of the Season 8 update. The new Tank will be available immediately for anyone who buys the Premium Battle Pass, or at Tier 45 for those with the standard version.

Fans were also able to take Mauga for a spin early as part of a limited trial in-game from November 3 to November 5.

Overwatch 2 Mauga abilities & weapons

Overwatch 2’s Mauga is an aggressive Tank Hero that encourages players to get up close and personal with the enemy team. His Primary and Secondary weapons are two miniguns strapped to either arm that can be fired at the same time, one of which deals incendiary damage while the other delivers critical hits.

Check out all of Mauga’s abilities in Overwatch 2 below:

Weapons

  • Incendiary Chaingun (Primary): Inflcit burning damage on enemies after dealing enough damage.
  • Volatile Chaingun (Secondary): Deal critical damage to burning enemies.

Abilities

  • Berserker (Passive): Gain health when inflicting critical damage on opponents.
  • Overrun: Charge forward and launch enemy player, ends with a stomp that knocks opponents to the ground.
  • Cardiac Overdrive: Nearby allies take less damage and are healed by dealing damage. Marked by a yellow circle on the ground.

As you can see, Mauga thrives in Overwatch 2 when he’s pushing the other team, healing himself and others while dealing big damage at close range.
