Overwatch 2 players slam “unplayable” matchmaking system

Overwatch 2 has been navigating issues with its matchmaking system since its release, and fans have had enough of it. Here’s what’s happening with the Overwatch 2 player community.

The Overwatch 2 matchmaking system has been slammed lately by fans who express their disappointment towards a problem that dates back since its first release. “Quickplay matchmaking should not allow Top 500 players to be in games with silver players under any circumstances,” wrote Reddit user Ihmu on the Overwatch subreddit and reignited the controversy.

Blizzard’s FPS has been known for its problems with its matchmaking system. While there have been some updates trying to fix the issue, especially in Ranked matches, there hasn’t been any viable solution. Fans not only have expressed disappointment with the ranking system, but they’ve also pointed out that this situation has even impacted Quick Play matches.

“I understand quick play is casual, and I don’t even mind losing, but it makes the game unplayable in the most literal sense of the word. You can’t enjoy any aspect of the game when a 25k damage Sojourn pops your entire team in the head every time you spawn,” said Reddit user Ihmu in their post.

Overwatch 2 matchmaking issues continue to plague Quickplay

Other Overwatch 2 players also chimed in and said that this situation has been interrupting the overall gaming experience. “Matchmaking is also completely broken in Competitive to the point of Plat players being thrown in GM lobbies and random Masters players being thrown in bronze/silver lobbies,” noted Reddit user Garbo2330.

Blizzard has yet to respond with a specific update about the matchmaking system, although they have introduced the Team Queue game mode in its latest patch. This will allow players to group up with their friends when entering a Ranked game and presents an alternative when balancing player level in a match.
