The Not-E3 season of news and major reveals has finally brought an exciting new announcement for Overwatch 2 players. Blizzard won’t only be introducing a mysterious Support hero, but new PvP and PvE modes as well with the Invasion update.

The release trailer, featuring Soujourn and an epic speech by Reinhardt, has shown that the Overwatch 2: Invasion update might deliver the extra content that every fan was waiting for ever since the game launched.

Starting from August 10, Overwatch 2: Invasion is set to be the biggest update yet, where players can expect to play a completely new game mode, a pack of story missions, a refreshed Practicing Range, a Hero Mastery mode, and much more.

Blizzard has confirmed that Season 5 will be released on June 13, but this hasn’t stopped them to announce a new date regarding the Overwatch 2: Invasion update. Even though this Season will still have some special events and a full Battle Pass, it can’t be compared with what Overwatch 2 seems to have prepared for Season 6.

Overwatch 2 Invasion new story missions

In Overwatch 2: Invasion, fans will play new story missions that bring the Overwatch narrative into the present. Even though Blizzard announced that they’ve reduced their ambitions regarding the game’s story mode, which was one of the main reasons behind the Overwatch to Overwatch 2 exchange, three new story missions titled “Rise of Null Sector” will be added on August 10.

These PvE missions will lead a team of characters through a new chapter of the battle against the Omnics. Under the name of Null Sector, these sentient machines have initiated an attack on Paris, and it will be the job of heroes such as Winston, Tracer, Mei, and others to save the city.

Players will be able to team up with friends or engage in online play to tackle three action-packed story missions, where the Omnics will present new forms like the Annihilators and Stalkers.

The Invasion update will try to refresh some of the almost forgotten training courses. With the Hero Mastery mode, players can go through tailored experiences to perfect their skills with each individual hero.

To amp up the courses, Overwatch 2: Invasion will add the feature of Global leaderboards that will showcase the top-performing hero masters. Blizzard also announced that this option will be available for a few select heroes at first and that more will come in future seasons.

Players that still use the Practice Range will be happy to know that Overwatch 2: Invasion will also add a brand-new firing range, where there’ll be dozens of practice settings and multiple targets to refine their aim with any hero.

Overwatch 2 Invasion new PvP mode: Flashpoint

The new game mode Flashpoint will be coming with the Overwatch 2 Invasion update, and it’ll be available in both Quick Play and Competitive Play. Flashpoint features two expansive maps, including the largest available in Overwatch 2 to date.

In this new mode, teams will battle to gain control of three key positions called Flashpoints. The objective is to capture three Flashpoints before the opposing team, but each one has to be fully secured before continuing to the next one. Players will need strategic planning and skillful gameplay combined in order to keep their opponents in check and advance through the maps.

Overwatch 2 Invasion new co-op experience

Aside from the story missions, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a bonus co-op mission set in King’s Row. While helping Tracer to rescue her friend and the Omnic Underworld, the players will be able to explore new areas of the map not seen in PVP modes.

This cooperative mission will gather players to battle once again with Null Sector, the violent Omnic group that has decimated their world.
