Overwatch 2 has a ton of cosmetics for players to unlock, including Golden weapon skins to make your shots sparkle a bit more. Here’s how you can unlock Golden weapons in Overwatch 2.

Golden guns in Overwatch 2 serve alongside Jade weapons as rewards for completing and winning Competitive games.

Golden weapons are merely cosmetic items that bear no influence on the game’s meta or overall gameplay. Having said that, its chic appearance is desired by many, so we’ve put together a guide that will help you unlock them in Overwatch 2.

How to unlock Golden guns in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 players can unlock Golden weapons by purchasing them in the Hero Gallery with 3,000 Competitive Points or Legacy Competitive Points.

In Season 9, players were only able to unlock Golden guns through Legacy Competitive Points. This has been reverted, however, and now you can unlock Golden weapons with the same Competitive Points you use to unlock Jade weapons.

More specifically, you can purchase Golden gun with Competitive Points or Legacy Competitive Points, depending on which you have more. You can only use one currency at a time, though, so you can’t put your Legacy Points and normal Points together to get a Golden weapon.

How to earn Competitive Points in Overwatch 2

Here is how you can earn Competitive Points to unlock weapon skins:

  1. Play Overwatch 2 Competitive Mode.
  2. Ensure you’re playing as much as you can to maximize your CP returns.
  3. Receive your end-of-season Points.
  4. If you’ve still not got enough then carry out playing more matches in Competitive.
  5. Once you reach 3,000, redeem them for a single weapon skin in the Hero Gallery.

Depending on how much you play and what your skill level is, it could potentially take a season or two, maybe more, to unlock a weapon for the character of your choice.
