According to Modern Warfare 2 players, a simple but unique Battlefield feature would add some life to the lackluster maps in MW2’s multiplayer mode.

Modern Warfare 2 maps have come under heavy scrutiny since launch, with players offering mixed reviews. Some maps were praised for their creativity, while others like Santa Sena Border Crossing were bashed by the community.

The leaked news of a classic map, that players aren’t necessarily fond of, returning in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 did very little to alleviate their concerns. Even the fan favorite Shoot House has come under fire for various bugs that ruin gameplay.

One player took to the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit to explain that Battlefield‘s dynamic weather feature and day/night cycles would go a long way to add some flavor to the lackluster maps found in the game.

As the post explains, “Wind, rain, snow, fog, and clouds would effect everything from movement to visibility to bullet drop,” which adds some variety to what players view as dull maps at the moment.

Most Modern Warfare 2 maps feature a similar environment when it comes to weather and time of day: “Currently the maps are all clear skies in the afternoon and I find it quite lifeless.”

While players shared a similar disdain for Vanguard’s maps, its night and rain maps like Berlin and Hotel Royal were considered some of the best in the game.

As one player put it, certain scopes and attachments in Modern Warfare 2 have no purpose among the current map pool: “It is a bit strange that we have huge variety of night scopes and some flashlights (that claim the light being a bonus). But all the maps are during the day.”

The concept went down well with players in the comments as most would welcome the Battlefield feature with open arms: “I wouldn’t hate this, especially given how few maps we’ve currently got. Would at least throw some variety in there, assuming the effects are enough to alter gameplay a bit.”

At the very least, a rainy and dark version of Shipment is set to arrive in Season 1 Reloaded, which could please fans and help with creating map variety in Modern Warfare 2.
