How to beat Molduga in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
NintendoMolduga has returned in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and it is still a ruthless boss that will test your mettle. Now that remote bombs are no longer available, here’s a detailed guide on how to beat Molduga in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom including attack strategies, best items, and more.
The Legend of Zelda games have always focused on providing freedom to their players which makes exploring Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom such an enjoyable experience. However, what makes this journey challenging are world bosses like Molduga and Gloom Hands that are tanky and deal high damage.
For players exploring the Gerudo desert region, here’s a guide revealing all Molduga locations in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the best strategy to beat it.
Molduga locations in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The first step to beat a Molduga in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is to find it, so here are all its locations in the Gerudo desert:
All Molduga are located in the Gerudo Desert, with a few of them tied to different quests in the game. If you’re attempting to complete the quest called “The Missing Owner“, you’ll need to head to Toruma Dunes, west of Gerudo Town. The exact coordinates for that Molduga are -4777, -2809, 0027.
How to defeat Molduga in Zelda TOTK
Luckily, Breath of the Wild players won’t have much trouble dealing with Molduga in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The mini-boss is a formidable foe but with the right timing and fusing skills, it can be taken down with ease.
Once you reach Molduga’s location, you’ll need to find high ground. There are usually ruins and big rocks you can climb surrounding the area. Molduga can sense anything touching the sand, so you should avoid being on the ground for too long. Using Sneaky Elixirs or clothes for stealth can help, but it’s best to stay out of Molduga’s way.
From your high-ground position, fire an arrow to the ground or throw any item to attract Molduga to that spot. The monster will reach that place and make a big jump in order to swallow whatever was there. This will give you a chance to hit it.
With Molduga in mid-air, you’ll need to fire as many arrows as you can directly at it. We recommend fusing different items, like Fangs or Bomb Flowers, into your arrows for better damage output. Once you stun Molduga, get close to hit it with melee attacks. When it’s starting to recover, get out to avoid getting hit by a tail swipe.
You’ll need to repeat this whole sequence a few times to defeat Molduga in Tears of the Kingdom. As you can see, it’s not so different from what you’d do in Breath of the Wild. The main difference is that you can’t use bombs the same way in TOTK.
Now you’re ready to beat any Molduga in the game. For more Tears of the Kingdom content, make sure to check our other guides:
