An upcoming Modern Warfare 2 free access period will allow Call of Duty fans to test out the franchise’s latest offering. Modern Warfare 2 became the fastest-selling Call of Duty game of all time, and now more players will get a chance to join the action thanks to a free trial.
Activision will periodically hand out free access trials to try and entice new players to experience the latest Call of Duty. The free access period for Modern Warfare 2 will allow players to check out the multiplayer mode with Season 1 Reloaded content in the spotlight.

When is the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer free trial?
The first ever Modern Warfare 2 free access period will occur from December 15 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT to December 19 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT.
This will give Call of Duty fans five days to test out Modern Warfare 2 for free. Multiplayer free access for Modern Warfare 2 will likely come and go throughout its seasons, so we’ll let you know when to expect the next one.
How to download Modern Warfare 2 free access
To play Modern Warfare 2 for free during the free access period, you need to find the game in your platform’s store.
Here’s how to download Modern Warfare 2 free access:
- Go to your respective console’s store – PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, etc
- Search for “Modern Warfare 2 Free Access” on console or look for the “Play Free” button on PC.
- A free trial for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should be available to download
- Download it, and launch the game to play
Modern Warfare 2 free access content: Shipment, modes & more
Luckily, players will be able to test out the new and improved version of Shipment that arrived with the Season 1 Reloaded update. Furthermore, Farm 18 is a fan favorite that is sure to please players.
In terms of game modes, you can jump into Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint. This offers a diverse selection of objective-based modes and kill races.
You’ll be able to experience the above modes in the standard first-person perspective, or the new third-person mode that returned to Modern Warfare 2.
