Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 have full crossplay between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, but players have been unable to accept friend requests because the option is locked. Here are a few workarounds to fix the friend request locked glitch.

Thanks to crossplay becoming the industry standard for multiplayer, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 allows you to add friends on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, no matter your platform. At least, you’re meant to — players have found that the friend request menu is completely locked.

This glitch stops you from accepting friend requests even if the game tells you that you have some, so here are a few ways you can fix the ‘friend request locked glitch’ in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

Restart Warzone 2

Before you do anything else, we recommend you restart the Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 application as this simple solution fix whatever issue caused the friend request menu to be locked.

If restarting Warzone 2 didn’t work, try out some of the other workarounds below.

Accept a friend request notification

If you’re still experiencing the friend request locked glitch in Warzone 2, you can ask a friend to send you a request and accept it through the notifications tab.

Here’s everything you need to do:

  1. Launch Warzone 2.
  2. Go to Settings then Account and Network.
  3. Make a note of your Activision ID (account name followed by numbers e.g Username#1234).
  4. Have your friend send a friend request to your Activision account.
  5. Accept the friend request as it comes through.
  6. If you miss it, head to the Notifications tab and set the Filter to All, and accept the request.

This should unlock the friend request option in Warzone 2 but there’s one more solution if that didn’t work.

Use the Call of Duty Companion App

If you still can’t find and accept friend requests in Warzone 2, you should try using the Call of Duty Companion App for iOS and Android.

Logging into the Companion App with your Activision account will allow you to manage friend requests from your phone, so it won’t matter if the feature is locked in-game.

Hopefully one of these solutions have allowed you to accept friend requests in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2.
