Who is GantzTheDemon in Helldivers 2? Rogue player causes chaos

There are many enemies in Helldivers 2 that players need to fight against for the good of Democracy. One in particular, though, is not doing so hot on the teamplay side of things. How did GantzTheDemon’s name come to be known, and what did they do to earn the ire of players? 

The Helldivers 2 devs recently commented on the possibility of PvP coming to the game, stating that it’s never something that they’d consider because they want to promote a positive community. 

What no one could have predicted was that a player would become one of the biggest enemies of the Helldivers 2 community, despite the game’s structure of teamplay. 

Who is GantzTheDemon in Helldivers 2?

When GantzTheDemon drops into a Helldivers 2 mission with other players, they are apparently killing their other squadmates and taking the glory for themselves.  

“It seems like there’s a rogue helldiver in our midst,” ‘Indublibable’ posted on Reddit. “We have reports that the helldiver known as GantzTheDemon has been participating in the killing of his own fellow Helldivers for nothing more than for sick pleasure. I advise all Helldivers who end up in a squad with him to proceed with caution.”

The thread stemmed from a video that was shared on TikTok that shows GantzTheDemon killing their teammates intentionally and then extracting themselves from the mission, leaving the rest of the players behind. According to reports from other players, this is not the only time they have done this either. 

Toxicity in games is not new news, and there are other incidents of players being selfish while playing Helldivers 2 and other games. So why are they doubling down on this particular player? 

The particularly heavy reaction to the actions of GantzTheDemon is because what they’re doing is not something that has been seen often in the game. “Killing another Helldiver without a cause is less than a common occurrence. Even less documented,” the OP commented. 

Fans of Helldivers 2 have taken to Reddit and the Helldivers 2 Discord to warn others of the actions of GantzTheDemon, with some even calling for the devs to include an enemy with the same name to be added to the game so players can hunt them down. 

Devs have not responded to this request, but they have bigger issues to address in the game right now. It is unlikely that we will see that kind of bounty in the game in any case.
