A leaker has suggested that GTA 6’s release date is still years away despite the major gameplay leak that gave players an insight into what to expect from the new title.

GTA 6 is without a doubt one of the most anticipated video games of all time. Players have been eager to discover new details concerning the upcoming title but Rockstar Games have been tight-lipped when it comes to their prized franchise.

Unfortunately, a massive leak on September 18 revealed a ton of GTA 6 gameplay footage from various stages of development. This was certainly not in the devs’ plans and one can only imagine the turmoil following the leaks.

Rockstar Games issued a statement confirming that the leaks would not delay GTA 6 and that development would continue as planned. However, the devs were still unwilling to share an expected release date.

As it turns out, another leaker now claims that GTA 6 will arrive in 2025. The same leaker previously anticipated an eventual delay that hit Hogwarts Legacy, which gives the claim some weight.

Despite the rumored release date of 2025, long-time fans of the franchise were wary of trusting a timeframe: “Internal estimates that are 3 years out mean nothing to me, because a lot can happen in 3 years that can change that.”

It’s true that a lot can happen in three years, and while the timeline can be accelerated, it can also very likely be delayed. This has led to fans adopting an “anything can happen” approach when it comes to a GTA 6 release date.

The most interesting comment under the post put the timeframe between GTA 5 and GTA 6 into perspective: “If GTAVI does release in 2025, and there’s a 12 year gap between GTAV and GTAVI, it’s insane to think that’s the same time span between GTA3 and GTAV.”

The potential 12-year wait between GTA 5 and GTA 6 has not been fruitful for players, but if rumors are true, players’ appetite for a new GTA experience will be satisfied soon.
