Deathclaws are among the fiercest creatures in the Wastelands of Fallout Shelter, so knowing when they attack and how to defend from them is key to maintaining a healthy Vault.

Fallout Shelter is all about building the perfect Vault and keeping all Dwellers happy, but to survive, you will have to build the best defenses against the dangers of the Wasteland. Among Ghouls and Radscorpions, nothing compares to what Deathclaws can do if they enter an unprepared Vault.

But when do they attack? And how can you defend yourself from them in Fallout Shelter? Here’s all you need to know.

Fallout Shelter: When do Deathclaws attack

For Deathclaws to start attacking your Fallout Shelter Vault, players need to have at least +60 Dwellers in normal mode, and +35 in survival mode.

Once you meet the Dwellers criteria, Deathclaws can spawn in multiple situations:

  • They are more likely to approach the Vault once it’s open and a Dweller sets out exploring.
  • It is also likely for a Deathclaw to attack if a Radio Station room is broadcasting and searching for new Dwellers in the Wasteland.

How to defend against Deathclaws in Fallout Shelter

The best way to defend your Vault against Deathclaws in Fallout Shelter is by equipping all your top floor Dwellers with the best weapons and outfits. You can also station some of your community members, armed to the teeth, in your Vault entrance to stand guard.

Remember Deathclaws do not use elevators to go into the Vault, they break the floors and stay around 10 to 15 seconds on each floor while killing everything in their path.

And that is everything you need to know to be safe from Deathclaws in Fallout Shelter! For more on the mobile game, make sure to check out our other guides:
