Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date & platforms
Thanks to the official Ubisoft Forward 2022 event, the devs confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released in 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, EPIC, PC, and Amazon Luna.
Although we don’t have an official release date, leaks suggest that it could be set to launch in Spring 2023, meaning we could see it anytime from March to June 2023. According to Twitter user Rebs Gaming, leaks say that the game will arrive between April and June 2023.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage setting & main character
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to take place in Baghdad, 100 years before the creation of the creed, with “multiple cities to explore, separated by desert and rivers like the Kingdom of AC1.”
The game will take place between 860 and 870, the Golden Age of Baghdad. This is when the Anarchy at Samarra occurred, which was a period of violence and instability under the Abbasid Caliphate. Samarra was the capital city of the Abbasid Caliphate, which is modern-day central Iraq.
This seems like the perfect setting for an Assassin’s Creed game, especially one that is supposedly going back to its roots, as it’s based on civil unrest and a historic event in history.
The main character in this Assassin’s Creed game is Basim, and the player will start their journey with him in his youth. The game is said to have “strong inspiration from the first Assassin’s Creed,” even possessing the legendary setting of Alamut from AC1.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage leaked gameplay details
As reported by Mr Rebs, “several RPG elements” have been removed, “no more dialogue choices, no gender choice, and no more level system.” It’s also said that the game will not feature a “branching skill tree.”
The gameplay is said to be “slightly different from that of Valhalla, less raw and with new animations,” however, it is not “representative of a drastic shift for Assassin’s Creed…we’re still going to get Odyssey- and Valhalla-sized experiences.”
Supporting the claim of Assassin’s Creed Mirage going back to the series’ roots, “Eagle Vision is back,” as well as the bird which has been a feature in the games since AC Origins. It’s also confirmed that Basim will use the classic hidden dagger thanks to the reveal trailer.
Further, it’s also been stated that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will feature improved parkour, as reports claim that Basim is “one of the fastest protagonists in AC.” Basim will also have “some tools to help you go fast.”
Overall, it seems we will be getting a much more stealthy but fast experience that looks to reflect the original AC games in a modernized fashion.
Assassin’s Creed 1 remake rumor

Along with these leaks on Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it was also rumored that the first Assassin’s Creed game was being remade, and could possibly be “integrated into a Season Pass which will also include DLC in Constantinople” that will be released “a few months later.”
However, Mr Rebs has reported that “two Ubisoft employees have denied the Assassins Creed 1 remake rumors,” meaning that it is now unlikely to happen. As more information is released, we’ll be sure to update you, so stay tuned.
