Splitgate 2 platforms

The Splitgate sequel will be available on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, and PC.

You can wishlist the game now on Steam, and it will also be available via the Epic Games Store for PC players.

Splitgate 2 gameplay

Splitgate 2 is built on Unreal Engine 5 and will feature similar gameplay to its predecessor. Much like the first, it’s a multiplayer shooter with player-controlled portals, but this time the devs have brought factions into the mix.

Three factions seemed to be shown in the cinematic trailer, all of which were distinguishable by color – pink, purple, and orange. It seems these factions will have different abilities, offering a hero-shooter element to Splitgate’s fast-paced portal action.

In the cinematic trailer, some abilities were shown, as one character threw a protective barrier down, another used a portable portal, and one could spot enemies through walls.

There was also a throwable disc that exploded on impact, as well as some sort of bomb that froze enemies in place. These could be pieces of equipment available in the game as opposed to abilities, but this is just speculation so take it with a pinch of salt.

Story

While there’s no single-player mode, there is now more of a narrative behind the game, as the PlayStation blog revealed that 1047 Games hired a narrative writer to develop the lore and universe of Splitgate 2.

This is likely going to be done through the faction system, as in the cinematic trailer three unique characters took the spotlight.
