Mini-games and sub-stories are a crucial part of the Like a Dragon series, and Infinite Wealth is no exception. Ichiban engages in Sujimon battles and challenges the Sujimon Battle League in Hawaii, so here’s how to unlock them and make your way to the top.

Ever since the announcement of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, fans have been all over its new mini-games. Calling them “mini” seems out of place, as Dondoko Island and the Sujimon battles are Ryu Ga Gotoku’s take on Animal Crossing and Pokemon inside the Yakuza series.

As crazy as it may sound, since Yakuza 7, Ichiban can collect said “Sujimon,” or mostly crazy people that act as collectible creatures. This time around, Hawaii sets the stage for a new challenge called the Sujimon battles, and like in Pokemon, strategy is key.

Here’s how to unlock the Sujimon battles and the Sujimon Battle League in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – Sujimon battles explained

Sujimon battles in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth are a mix between Pokemon and gacha games, where players capture a type of person around Honolulu and battle using a turn-based battle system.

The Sujimon mini-game and side-story, as with Dondoko Island, are not required to finish Infinite Wealth’s main story, but they can net players amazing rewards. They are a great option to rest from the lengthy story that the new Yakuza game has in stock and a great way to make some extra cash.

How to unlock Sujimon battles in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

After finishing Chapter 1 in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Ichiban will once again be introduced to Sujimon by the Sujimon Professor in Yokohama, but to unlock the Sujimon battles and its side story, you will need to reach Chapter 4.

The Anaconda Mall location is visited during Chapter 4 in Hawaii, and the main story will bump Ichiban into the Sujimon Sensei Morikasa during Substory #37 “Choosing Your Starter.” This character will take Ichiban to a hidden spot beneath a PC Repair Shop and will introduce players to the world of Sujimon battles.

Players can bring up to six Sujimon to each battle, but only three can be thrown into battle.

Players can tackle the Sujimon Battle League once they reach their first Sujimon Trainer Rank in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Sensei Morikasa will contact Ichiban once he finishes this task, and introduce players to the Discreet Four, members of the Sujimon Battle League.

Once Ichiban battles enough Sujimon trainers marked with a red spot across town, he will raise his Sujimon Trainer rank, and with each completed tier, a new member of the Discreet Four will be available for battle.

Sujimon Battle League rewards in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Each time you beat a member of the Sujimon Battle League, or one of the Discreet Four in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Ichiban will earn Master Gacha Tickets for the Kiwami Gacha, among some other rewards.

These tickets are the ones used to pull Sujimon from the mode’s best banner and will net some of the best Sujimon to use in battle.

That’s all you need to know to start and complete your Sujimon journey! For more on Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, be sure to check out the rest of our content:
