Destiny 2 players relieved as Bungie remove hated LMG from loot pool

For a long time, Destiny 2 fans were reasonably upset over an LMG being part of the weekly Grandmaster Nightfall loot pool, which is one of the hardest content in the game. Now that Bungie has announced it is, thankfully, leaving soon, players are happy.

Some guns in Destiny 2 are so beloved that when they receive even a little attention from developers, it calls for a celebration. Others, meanwhile, are assumed to be so useless that the community collectively groans when someone even mentions the name.

The Swarm, a Legendary LMG, was a gun that wasn’t much of a darling to the player base. The reason is partly the underwhelming perks and its general inability to keep up with the ever-changing meta of Destiny 2

A gun doesn’t have to be meta to be beloved, though, but for The Swarm, it was part of the Grandmaster Nightfall loot pool. This meant that whenever players grinded the Grandmasters, they were showered with an even more undesirable Adept version of The Swarm, making it even more notorious.

Bungies kicks The Swarm out of Destiny 2’s loot pool, fans applaud in joy

On October 19’s weekly briefing, This Week in Destiny, Bungie shared a sneak peek on what lies ahead for the coming weeks, as well as all that’s hot in Destiny 2. Although the devs provided a lot of information, the first thing the playbase noticed was that The Swarm will be leaving next week on October 24.

In a Reddit discussion about the briefing, the top comment was “SWARM IS LEAVING,” with others chiming in and collectively venting their disgust over the LMG. Another user said, “Bye Swarm! You will NOT be missed.”

Elsewhere on X, it was met with a similar reception.

An X user replied on the thread, “I’m fine with this, The Buzzard was good back when it came out but the swarm is trash, never understood why it got brought back.” The Swarm has received a handful of “good riddance” comments as a farewell message across Reddit and X.

It was mutually agreed long before by the community that The Swarm sits atop some of the worst LMGs in Destiny 2, so it getting Adept Nightfall Grandmaster treatment meant happiness to no one.
