Does Forza Motorsport have a VR Mode?

Forza Motorsport leaves nothing to bargain for in terms of a pure sim racing experience, but one thing players have been yearning for is a VR Mode, ever since the tech was mature enough to be included in racing games. So, is there a VR mode in Forza Motorsport?

While 2023 has been crammed with racing games with F1, The Crew Motorfest, and Forza Motorsport itself, and the likes of EA Sports WRC and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown slated for a release soon, the ones that support VR have been few and far between.

PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 has a VR mode and it was universally praised. Given that Forza as a franchise started with Microsoft’s wish to have its own “Gran Turismo,” it is not unreasonable to expect Forza Motorsport to tail behind GT and add support too.

While no other Forza title has launched with a VR mode, has Forza Motorsport changed this narrative?

Is there VR support in Forza Motorsport?

No, Forza Motorsport does not have VR support. It is also highly unlikely that the game will ever support a VR mode. 

In their June 2023 QA, the developers responded, “We have nothing to share at this time,” when talking about VR support. 

Part of the reason is that Xbox does not have any VR devices of its own, unlike Sony with PSVR and PSVR2. Further, it seems Microsoft have never been interested in the technology.

During the Wall Street Journal Tech Live event, Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said: “I think that the hardware innovation that’s happening is great and it’s an important enabler, [but] right now, I’m deciding to stay more in the software side of that enablement.”

Until Microsoft’s stance changes, or if they’re secretly cooking a VR device, the chances for a Forza Motorsport VR feature remain slim. For more on the game, as well as other racing titles, check out:
