This is the first time the Forza franchise has had an online requirement, as neither Forza Horizon nor Motorsport had this.

Microsoft also hinted that the game would be supported for years and that there are no immediate plans for a sequel. This means the server will be running for a long time before it eventually shuts down, and you lose all the progression.
