Epic Games introduced new weapon mods in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, but players aren’t happy with the added layer of difficulty. Here’s why Fortnite fans say why weapon mods feel “too complicated.”

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 introduced a massive load of new content with new vehicles, items, consumables, and, for the first time, weapon mods. While players can get their favorite add-ons in Mod Benches, they can also pick up and wield any previously modded weapon from the battlefield.

According to Epic Games, “most mod-compatible weapons are already modded,” which means that all Uncommon rarity weapons will already have at least one mod. While this adds a layer of complexity to the battle royale, players aren’t pleased with this new option.

Fortnite fans pointed out that there’s no time to check between mods while looting in the battlefield.

In a post called “Not really happy with the guns having random modifications,” Fortnite fans described that mods have complicated the looting process and made items very difficult to recognize while in the middle of a fight.

“Before I had an AR and I knew exactly what I was looting, and what to expect from it,” said Reddit user ‘DonAsiago,’ “Now I will find and AR, it will have iron sights, then another one will ACOG, and then another one will have sniper optic. Also, don’t forget about rarity, now the progression is not as simple, as modifications also play a role.”

The new mod feature was especially criticized by Fortnite players who pointed out that weapons with attachments aren’t easy to identify and that analyzing them one by one was “a pain.”

“This just adds unnecessary complexity to what was kinda clear-cut. Weapon mods like this feel too “CoDdy” and it is kinda losing a part of what Fortnite made enjoyable for me,” noted the user who made the original post.

Other Fortnite fans noted that since “Mod Benches” were only currently located at the Society vaults, players had to rely on scavenging, and in turn, looting had been made much more difficult because modded weapons were hard to distinguish.

“This is why I played Fortnite over Apex or Warzone. I found the looting to be very confusing in other games, and simple in Fortnite. Took some stress off and allowed me to focus on actual play and positioning,” commented user ‘ApprehensiveClick192,’ “Haven’t tried the new stuff yet, but if it’s difficult, I’m out.”

And that’s why players think weapon mods are “overcomplicated” in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. If you want to know more about Epic Games’ battle royale, you can check what useful OG feature has stayed for this season and what are the rarest Fortnite skins of all time.
