The Fortnite Lock On pistol has finally met its match in the form of the Ballistic Shield. While the weapon can eliminate an enemy without much difficulty, players have found it to be ineffective against the Riot Shield.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 has seen the arrival of quite a few interesting weapons and utility items. The Lock On pistol is by far one of the most effective items in the game. It allows you to lock on to a particular enemy and rain a barrage of bullets on them with ease.

Since the weapon can essentially track the enemy, you don’t need to be meticulous with your aim. However, if the enemy is wielding a Ballistic Shield, then you might be out of luck.

Reddit user Wizard06 posted a clip on the site, where they faced off against an enemy who was using the Ballistic Shield. Despite using the Fortnite Lock On pistol, they couldn’t land a single hit on the enemy.

Despite bagging the Victory Royale, it was rather surprising to see the Lock On pistol fail like this. The logic behind it is simple. Since the Ballistic Shield covers all the player’s hitboxes, the pistol cannot lock onto anything, rendering the weapon useless.

Several players commented on the thread that the Ballistic Shield needed a nerf. Others found it very random that the Fortnite Lock On pistol was unvaulted. According to them, waiting for a few seconds for the weapon to charge and then dealing only 100 damage wasn’t worth the effort.

There were a few players who mentioned that the Fortnite Lock On pistol could shred through enemies. However, there were others who said that even if the weapon could deal damage quicker, it wouldn’t be enough to stagger the Ballistic Shield in the game.

With a few more weeks left for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 to end, it would be interesting to see if the developers nerf the Ballistic Shield. It’s also worth seeing what other weapons get unvaulted in future updates.
