When is the next Fortnite update?
Epic GamesFortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 was released on December 1, bringing an entirely new map, weapons, movement mechanics, and gameplay, changing the Battle Royale island. The new season introduced a Japanese-themed island, numerous bosses and demons roaming the island, and players were to take the role of Ronin and defend the reality.
While the first patch v33.10 was supposed to bring the upcoming Winterfest update, as of yet nothing has been added to the game except the new OG Chapter 1 Season 1 mode, the 5v5 Ballistic mode, and the new LEGO Brick Life.
So, if you’re wondering about the next Fortnite update, here’s everything we know so far.
Fortnite v33.20 update release date
According to a leaked schedule from reliable insider ShiinaBR, the next Fortnite update will be the v33.20 patch on January 14, 2025. Updates are rolled out roughly every two weeks, and the last one was v33.10 on December 10.
We know very little about what will be included in the patch, but we do know that Godzilla will arrive. In the Battle Pass, you’ll see the unlock date for the Godzilla skin is January 14th, the same day v33.20 is set to arrive.
Since this is a Japanese-themed season, and Winterfest is right around the corner in a planned hotfix on December 17, it’s highly likely it won’t include anything major that changes the gameplay otherwise.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 has four planned updates which will bring tons of fresh content to the game. While there’s already the first major patch rolled out on December 10, it hasn’t changed the Chapter 6 Season 1 gameplay much, except for a few weapon nerfs and buffs.
However, the future planned updates hint at new content that will be added to the game and will ensure players get to see something new the next time they log in after a Fortnite patch.
