Midas returns in Fortnite 29.01 update

Epic Games had already confirmed the return of Midas in Fortnite, and the 29.01 update brings an entire event focused on the fan-favorite character. It adds a Floor is Lava LTM, as well as several golden-themed features to regular matches.

One of these is an upgrade service that changes any weapon to Legendary for just 500 Bars. Golden Chickens roam the island laying Golden Eggs, and Midas will appear as a boss on the map who can be defeated.

On top of all that, there will also be Quests to complete for free rewards, with new ones arriving over the course of seven days after it goes live.

New and unvaulted weapons

The Fortnite 29.01 update marks the return of the Drum Gun, which has been officially unvaulted and added back to the loot pool. There is also a Mythic version that can be claimed by defeating Midas during a match.

Players can also track down the Chains of Hades weapon, which can be earned from Olympus Chests or by taking out Hades in The Underworld. Last up, the Shield Bubble Jr., a smaller version of the regular Shield Bubble, has been added to protect players from incoming Snipers.
