As the first season of Fortnite Chapter 5 draws to a close, the highly anticipated Season 2 update has arrived. Here are the full patch notes for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, from the theme to the start date and downtime.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 has been huge for Epic Games’ ongoing battle royale juggernaut. Not only did it bring a fresh map with new locations and the usual major collaborations, but it also added the successful LEGO and Fortnite Festival modes.

Now, the next major update is here, and players are wondering what Chapter 5 Season 2 is bringing to the battle royale.

Here are the complete Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 update patch notes, including theme, new weapons, and more.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 downtime

The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 drops on Friday, March 8, 2023, right after Season 1 ends. Downtime starts is currently ongoing and will end at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET / 2 AM GMT (March 9 UK).

Epic Games have found some issues when updating the game, so the patch is taking longer than usual.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 theme

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is titled Myths and Mortals and has a Greek mythology theme, bringing well-known figures and gods to the game, including the Zeus Battle Pass skin. What’s more, the lore this season will involve a battle between Olympus and the Underworld.

Additionally, the role of Poseidon fell into the hands of Fortnite character Rippley, who can be seen holding a trident in this season’s key art. Leaks have also hinted that an OG Kratos skin from God of War could be on the way too, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 new POIs & Mythic weapons

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 trailer brings new POIs to the battle royale alongside new weapons and Mythic weapons.

Players can visit Mount Olympus as well as the River Styx, located in the Greek Underworld. This river leads to Hades’ Castle, another new POI.

When it comes to weapons, Zeus’ Lightning Bolt and Hades’ Chains are new Mythical items this season, along with Icarus’ Wings and Cerberus’ Wolves that were revealed before launch.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 update patch notes

Here are the complete Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 update patch notes, as revealed by Epic Games:

Pandora’s Box has been opened on the Fortnite Battle Royale Island, bringing Olympus to the battlefield. Olympian legends — including Hades and the thunder god Zeus — now rule the Island in otherworldly rage. To make matters worse, they’ve brought their powers and weapons with them. Use their mythological means against them in Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths & Mortals!

Legendary Locations

  • Mount Olympus
  • Grim Gate
  • The Underworld
  • Brawler’s Battleground

These are just some of the locations the gods brought to the Island. However, don’t forget what else they’ve brought with them…

Chaos Upon the Land

The gods descended with their powers and weapons, but that doesn’t mean your next battle has to end in tragedy. Make your next battle a myth to remember by using them for yourself!

  • Thunderbolt of Zeus
  • Gatekeeper Shotgun
  • Harbinger SMG
  • Huntress DMR
  • Warforged Assault Rifle

Another Power… the Power of Flight!

  • Wings of Icarus allow players to fly through the sky and divebomb enemies.
  • If you fly for too long, the wings burn up and might cause you to crash.
  • Chains of Hades coming later in season.

Underground in The Underworld: Weapons from Last Season

Unlike Orpheus looking back at Eurydice, you’re allowed to turn to the weapons from Chapter 5 Season 1. Here’s a list of the weapons returning from last Season:

  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Nemesis AR
  • Thunder Burst SMG
  • Reaper Sniper Rifle
  • Ranger Pistol

Myths & Mods

  • Mod Benches now found in Weapons Bunkers.
  • Two new mods added in update: Thermal Scope and Speedgrip.

The Myths Materialize in the Myths & Mortals Battle Pass

With the Myths & Mortals Battle Pass purchase, you can unlock these Olympian Outfits:

  • Cerberus (unlocked immediately!): Rise from The Underworld.
  • Aphrodite: Lead with your heart.
  • Poseidon: Slurp-god of the sea. King of the beach.
  • Medusa: Humanity’s stone-hearted defender.
  • Zeus: Warrior-king of the gods.
  • Artemis: All must respect the natural laws, even the gods.
  • Hades: The overseer of the Underworld.
  • Korra (Later in season)

Ranked updates

  • We’ve heard your feedback about longer queue times at the upper Zero Build ranks. To address this, we’re doing a test! The NA-East and NA-West matchmaking regions will route to the NA-Central matchmaking region for Ranked Zero Build.
  • We tweaked progression in the upper ranks to make it harder and more rewarding to reach Unreal.
  • Points are no longer granted for surviving without taking damage.
