Here’s our Fortnite weapon tier list for Chapter 5 Season 2, which breaks down the best weapons in the entire loot pool.

You won’t go far in Fortnite without a weapon. But, luckily, the battle royale features many different types of guns and rarities to help you survive.

While most weapons are available without attachments, you can use different modifications on almost all weapons in the game by upgrading them on Mod benches that are scattered across the island.

However, even with attachments, not all weapons perform that well. So, here’s a tier list of all the weapons in Fortnite that will help you identify the best weapons currently in the game.

Best weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 ranked

Before discussing the weapons tier list in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, there are a few pointers that you need to take into account.

First of all, the weapons in this list are classified into groups based on how they perform without any attachments. Secondly, the DPS rating for each weapon is calculated according to their highest rarity in the game.

Fortnite S-Tier weapons

Weapons that are a part of this tier are absolutely lethal without any mods, and their efficiency is increased if you manage to upgrade them during a game in Fortnite.

WeaponDPSReload/Cooldown TimeMagazine Size
Reaper Sniper Rifle64.133.15 seconds3
Warforged Assault Rifle2163.2 seconds35
Ranger Pistol1981.35 seconds15
Frenzy Auto Shotgun187.54.23 seconds8

If you come across any of these weapons while you’re looting chests at different POIs across the island, hold on to them, and only swap them out if you come across one that’s a higher rarity.

Fortnite A-Tier weapons

The difficulty of a gunfight majorly depends upon how efficient your weapons are and the ones that are mentioned in this segment can definitely help you get out of a pinch in Fortnite.

Nemesis AR1752.25 seconds28
Gatekeeper Shotgun156.42.25 seconds3
Harbinger SMG199.52.3 seconds30

Although some of the weapons in this segment have a higher DPS rating than ones present in the S-Tier, their recoil means you may have difficulty hitting shots.

Fortnite B-Tier weapons

The weapons in this segment of the Fortnite tier list are a decent choice but are either slower in terms of the rate of fire or they have lower overall damage output than the ones in the aforementioned segments.

Huntress DMR72.14.73 seconds6
Wings of Icarus60 Dive Bomb damage3 seconds300
Thunder Burst SMG192.272.03 seconds24

Although the Wings of Icarus is more of a mobility item than a weapon, you can dive bomb with it and deal some AoE damage. However, players have already found counters to it, rendering it somewhat ineffective.

Fortnite C-Tier weapons

The weapons in this tier should completely be avoided unless you have no other option when you first land on the island. Although they can be used to a certain degree in modes where building is allowed, they’re good at damaging builds rather than taking down enemies.

Hammer Pump Shotgun72.14.73 seconds6
Cluster Clinger

The Hammer Pump Shotgun was dubbed as the worst weapon in the previous season, and players were quite baffled when Epic Games chose to add this weapon to the loot pool again.

That said, Chapter 5 Season 2 has just gone live and future Fortnite updates could affect the position of the weapons in our tier list. We’ll adjust it based on how the meta changes in the coming days. Till then, be sure to check out the following links:
