Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth features a deep combat system, with multiple different characters to learn that each have unique skills. If you want to tackle the strongest battles in the game, like Summons, you’ll need to be comfortable juggling everything from Synergy abilities to Limit Breaks.

One of the most fundamental systems is the Pressure and Stagger mechanics, as some of the more challenging foes can seem almost impossible to beat if you’re making full use of them.

With this in mind, here’s how to Pressure enemies in FF7 Rebirth and then how to Stagger them.

Combat in FF7 Rebirth is deep with plenty of systems.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth enemies will become Pressured when you hit them with elemental attacks they are weak against, perform blocks and guards, or even dodge them entirely. However, each foe has a different set of weaknesses, so the method to inflict Pressure on them is different for each one.

So, at the start of each fight against a new enemy, use the Assess Materia to get a detailed report of what the most effective strategy is. Doing so will provide you with a list of elemental weaknesses and resistances, as well as any other key information that could aid you in battle.

Once an enemy has been Pressured successfully, it will become much easier to Stagger them and gain the upper hand in a fight.

Once a creature or character is Staggered, they are temporarily unable to attack and the damage they take is multiplied. During this window, it’s best to unleash a flurry of your most powerful moves by spending ATB Points.

For stronger enemies like bosses, you might need to do this multiple times per fight. So, be patient and don’t try to rush it, as you can quickly be punished for spamming attacks without planning ahead.
