Diablo 4 players claim new Season 3 feature is “severely underwhelming”

Diablo 4 Season 3 introduced Seneschal Companions for players, but some feel that they aren’t really adding anything relevant to the game and are a “severely underwhelming” addition.

Seneschal Companions are a new addition to Diablo 4 in Season 3. They are Constructs that players are able to build and have as companions throughout the game. Players can upgrade them in the Vaults of Gatehall with Tuning and Governing Stones, which have a large array of abilities for each.

Despite the potential a companion in Diablo 4 had, players are saying that they are underwhelming and in some cases even a “trivial” addition.

“I’m up to around level 50 and the pet is severely underwhelming so far. Trivial damage and healing,” said ‘DamnImAwesome’ in a post on Reddit.

They explained further, “It’s nice having something to take some aggro off me and I get minor buffs but it really feels weak for it to be the focal point of the season.”

This thread was not the only one dealing with the topic, as many other players agreed and made their own posts about how unimpactful the Seneschal Companion is in Diablo 4. The problem, according to players, is because the Companion was meant to be a significant addition to the game.

“It’s another season of ‘slotted powers’. 3rd in a row. They couldn’t even do anything creative. S1’s jewellery, S2’s circle, S3’s pet are all fundamentally the same thing in different forms,” a player commented.

Some players did acknowledge that they may see some stronger builds come in when they access late-game content, but for now, the Companions are not much to pay attention to.

Considering that large parts of loots and quests in the new season revolve around them, this was a considerable disappointment for players. “I just think they really missed the mark with interacting with it,” a player explained.
