Warzone is set to undergo major changes once the Modern Warfare 3 update arrives, and popular CoD content creator Kris “FaZe Swagg” Lamberson fully expects the devs to follow Fortnite’s lead and bring back the classic Verdansk map.

The launch of Modern Warfare 3 on November 10 will begin a chapter for Call of Duty, both for multiplayer and battle royale fans. Warzone is set to receive a major overhaul alongside MW3 Season 1, including a host of new weapons and the Urzikstan map.

Players can also look forward to popular maps like Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep returning in 2024, but it’s another map that the community is desperate to return to. Ever since the move to Caldera in Warzone 2, fans have been calling for Verdansk, the original Warzone battleground, to come back.

While the devs have remained tight-lipped on whether or not the OG map will make a comeback, popular Warzone content creator FaZe Swagg is adamant that we’ll see Verdansk again soon.

“I think there definitely is an opportunity, they probably will bring back Verdansk,” Swagg said in his October 31 video. “I don’t see why they wouldn’t, it would be such a missed opportunity for them.”

He also pointed out the recent news that Fortnite is sending players back to the Chapter 1 map during Chapter 4 Season 5, and how well-received the move has been in the community:

“Just based on all of the hype of the OG Fortnite map, everyone is loving it. People who don’t play the game [anymore] are excited. When they see the impact of bringing the OG map back, you’re going to see them do it. They’re going to bring back Verdansk.”

Swagg also called for the Warzone devs to take more cues from Fortnite when it comes to refreshing the existing maps in each update, something that Epic’s battle royale has become well known for.

“Throughout the last two maps, they really haven’t made any map changes constantly. The one thing about Fortnite is they always make map changes,” Swagg continued. “Al Mazrah was no map changes, it was weird. They just don’t care to change stuff.”

There has been no official word on whether or not Verdansk will return to Warzone at a later date, but Swagg clearly feels that Fortnite’s Chapter 1 map coming back is going to force the devs’ hand. With the classic map already playable in Warzone Mobile, only time will tell if it’s added back to the main game.
